Frequently asked questions
About the site
›Is Malta Company Search an official government website?
No. It is an independent service and is not affiliated with the Malta Business Registry, the Malta Gaming Authority, the Malta Financial Services Authority or the Government of Malta. For legal or official purposes, always verify information with the relevant authority.
›Is it free to use?
Yes. Searching and viewing company profiles is free and does not require an account.
›Where does the data come from?
Company records come from the public Malta Business Registry extract. Gaming licences come from the MGA Licensee Register, and financial-services licences from the MFSA Financial Services Register. Data sources →
›How up to date is the information?
Each company page and licence section shows when the data was last refreshed or checked. The official registers can change at any time, so recent changes may take a while to appear here.
Companies
›What do 'Active' and 'Struck off' mean?
'Active' means the company is currently on the register. 'Struck off' means it has been removed from the register — for example after being dissolved or for failing to file — and no longer exists as a legal entity.
›Why can't I find a company?
Try searching by registration number (for example C 12345) as well as by name. Very recently registered companies may not appear until the next data refresh, and some entity types are not included in the public extract. Search companies →
›What is the 'History of changes' section?
Each time we refresh the data we compare it with the previous version and record what changed — for example a new director, a change of registered office, or a new shareholder. History starts from when we began tracking each register.
Licences
›What does the 'MGA licensed' badge mean?
The company currently holds at least one active gaming licence on the Malta Gaming Authority's Licensee Register. The licence section lists each licence, its status, and any changes we have recorded.
›What does the 'MFSA licensed' badge mean?
The company currently holds at least one active licence, registration or notification on the MFSA Financial Services Register — for example as a bank, insurer, investment firm, payment institution or tied insurance intermediary.
›Why does a licence say it was 'matched by company name'?
Some MFSA entries do not include a company registration number. When the register's name matches exactly one Maltese company, we link the licence to it and say so. If you believe a match is wrong, please let us know. Report a wrong match →

›How do I correct or remove my details?
